Order of Attainment Nomination Information

The order of Attainment was established by the National Council in 2007 to honor the
societal contributions of Pi Kappa Delta Alumni. These contributions may be global, national or local in scope and reflect the role of forensics and pi Kappa Delta in building life-long citizens dedicated to lives of leadership and service.

Any Pi Kappa Delta member can submit an Order of Attainment nomination. (The nominee need not be a member of the came Pi Kappa Delta chapter as the person submitting the nomination.) Although the member being recommend for the Order of Attainment needs to have been a member of The Order of Active Undergraduate to be eligible for consideration, he or she need not have obtained an advanced degree -- such as the Degree of Special Distinction or the Degree of Highest Distinction. In addition, Order of Attainment nominees need not be affiliated with currently active chapters in good standing, and nominations from inactive chapters are welcomed. Finally, it is the intention of this Order to recognize accomplishments that go beyond competitive success in intercollegiate speech and debate. Although Order of Attainment nominees may have been highly successful competitors, their success at tournaments is not a relevant factor in the consideration of their nomination.  Both living members and post-humus nominations will be considered.

To Nominate Someone for the Order of Attainment:

Do you know of someone who should be recognized in the Order of Attainment? If so, submit a letter of nomination to the Pi Kappa Delta Historian. Your letter should include the following information:

  • The name of the nominee, including their name at the time of their membership in the Order of Active Undergraduate;
  • The name of the Local Chapter that they belonged to, or the name of their undergraduate institution;
  • A brief biographical summary of the nominee, highlighting key accomplishments that you feel qualify him or her for The Order of Attainment;
  • Contact information so that the National Council can reach you if they have questions or need further information regarding the nomination.

 Why Submit a Nomination?

The Order of Attainment is a wonderful way to recognize the accomplishments of Pi Kappa Delta alumni. If the nominee was a member of your chapter, inducting them into The Order of Attainment can help connect current students with your program's history and can remind them of the importance of participation in Pi Kappa Delta. It is also an excellent means to re-establish contacts with alumni and build relationships based on mutual appreciation of the life-long value of Pi Kappa Delta membership.
