There are two ways to join Pi Kappa Delta -- as an individual member, and as a chapter. This page contains information and links about each of these options.

To Join Pi Kappa Delta as an Individual Member:

There are six categories of individual membership -- active undergraduate, instruction, alumni, affiliate, attainment and honorary. Membership in the order of attainment and honorary membership may be granted only by a vote of the national council. Affiliate membership is for individuals with at elast a B.A. degree who were not members of Pi Kappa Delta as undergraduates, but who have previously been members of the National Forensic League, or have participated in speech or debate activities. The order of isntruction is designed for teachers, scholars and coaches, whether or not they were previouslly members of a an undergradutate Pi Kappa Delta chapter.

To Form a Pi Kappa Delta Chapter:

There are three types of Pi Kappa Delta chapters: Undergraduate Chapters, Alumni Chapters, and the National General Chapter.

Undergraduate Chapters: An undergraduate chapter is composed of five or more Pi Kappa Delta members, and may be formed on any accredited college or university campus.

Alumni Chapters: An alumni chapter differs from an undergraduate chapter insofar as it may be established outside of educational institutions, and shall not be allowed to induct members who have not previously been members in good standing in undergraduate chapters. Alumni chapters often serve as "booster clubs," advocates, and recruiting representatives of the undergraduate chapters that they represent.

The National General Chapter: The national general chapter is designed for situations where fewer than five Pi Kappa Delta members attend college on a campus without an active undergraduate chapter. Because they do not meet the minimum threshold of five students required to form a chapter, these students will be inducted into the national general chapter, and will enjoy all of the rights and privileges pertaining to Pi Kappa Delta membership, including the right to compete at the PKD National Tournament, eligibility for PKD honors and awards, the right to earn PKD Credit Points and the right to pursue PKD degrees.
