Benefits of PKD Membership:

With the adoption of the new Pi Kappa Delta Constitution in 2011, PKD has become the official alumni organization for the National Forensic League. As a result of this partnership, anyone with NFL experience is now encouraged to join Pi Kappa Delta. High school students may become Pi Kappa Delta members during their senior year, and may transfer ten-percent of their cumulative NFL points into the Pi Kappa Delta Credit Point System. Those who have already graduated from an undergraduate institution may join as affiliate members if they did not graduate from a college or university with a Pi Kappa Delta chapter.

Benefits For High School Students and Undergraduates: Pi Kappa Delta membership offers many benefits fro high school students. In addition to membership in a nationally recognized intercollegiate honorary, membership provides:

Benefits For Colleges and Universities: As an umbrella organization, Pi Kappa Delta is committed to building the capacity of the entire forensics community. Regardless of the type of speech and debate activities that a campus supports, PKD membership provides a vehicle for strengthenthing a college or university's ability to attract, recruit and retain high quality undergraduates. In addition, an active undergraduate Pi Kappa Delta Chapter provides a school with:

  • Advocacy benefits: As the official alumni organization of the NFL, PKD and the NFL have joined forces to begin the process of establishing forensics programs on every college campus in the country. Through the newly created National Coordinator position, PKD will work with undergraduate students on campuses without active forensics programs to publicize the value of intercollegiate forensics, to seek funding and recognition from the school and student organization, and to form active undergraduate PKD chapters.
  • Access to the NFL database and use of the Pi Kappa Delta Credit Point System to help study, articulate and track the outcomes of forensics participation. The point system will also allow Pi Kappa Delta Chapters to retain members that are recruited to campus, but elect not to participate in forensics by demonstrating their continued scholarly and service-related activities as PKD members. In effect, chapters will be able to provide administrations with much more robust justifications for their budgets and with statistical and narrative information about the outcomes of forensics participation.
  • Honorary benefits: Pi Kappa Delta Chapters provide a number of ways to recognize and reward the accomplishments of undergraduates, coaches, teachers and alumni.
  • Fund-raising and development benefits: Pi Kappa Delta Undergraduate and Alumni Chapters help engage graduates and maintain their interest in the strength and vitality of programs long after they graduate graduate. As a fraternal organization, Pi Kappa Delta membership provides the support network necessary to improve and maintain your forensic program, and to create an effective fund-raising plan. Over the past several years, the National Council has developed a number of effective chapter fund-raising tools and both PKD and the NFL are committed to increasing the ability of member chapters to engage in sophisticated, database-assisted direct fund-raising activities. Pi Kappa Delta can also raise funds directly on behalf of its member chapters as an IRS-authorized Fiscal Sponsor.
  • Access to a comprehensive alumni database: Pi Kappa Delta and the NFL are assembling a comprehensive database of forensics participants. Over time, this database will be enormously valuable to individual programs, and will allow them to forge strong relationships with alumni or interested parties in their local areas.
  • Access to professional and occupational mentoring networks for both coaches and undergraduates. In addition, Pi Kappa Delta Chapters will have access to social media affinity groups created to maximize alumni networking and employment opportunities.
